Guide to the Governors

Chair of Governors

Michael Camp

I am the Chair of Governors and a Foundation Governor (appointed by the Church). Joining at the end of 2020, I bring extensive experience having acted as a governor at various schools since 1987. Initially a teacher, I became a priest and recently retired as a full-time vicar. I love Harnham and nothing is more important to me than making things work well for our children. I bring particular expertise in the worship and ethos of the school.

Vice Chair of Governors

David Stone

I became a governor at Harnham in 2003 as I approached retirement. I was appointed as a Foundation Governor and am now the Local Authority Governor. I have been privileged to serve as both Vice and Chair and am now in my fourth rewarding term of office. All our children attended Harnham and it played an important formative part in their lives. I consider any service I can give the School is only part repayment for its valuable contribution to our family.

Alan Blake

Alan has been a Governor since 2023.

Andrew Barnard

Andrew studied Archaeology and Prehistory at Sheffield University and then trained as a teacher in Winchester. He specialised in teaching English and history but also coached sport, directed plays and ran school boarding. Between 2006 and 2022, Andrew was Head of a 3-13 prep school in Berkshire. Andrew has a passion for history, creative arts and the natural world and he is eager to open the eyes of young people to the world around them and to promote the development of the whole child. Since retiring to Salisbury in 2023, Andrew has joined the board of two schools, is a trustee of an educational trust and is also an education consultant.

Efrim Niccals

I am a Parent Governor at Harnham Juniors - my daughters both attend the School. I have been involved in school governance for a few years now, both here and at Harnham Infants. I am passionate about the power of education and particularly promoting equality of opportunity for all children. My background is in publishing and bookselling and I am currently also a part- time student.

Ruth Fletcher

I am the Acting Headteacher, and prior to this have been Assistant Headteacher since April 2011. Originally appointed as a Staff Governor in 2011, I have since been appointed as a Co-opted Governor (September 2023). One of my many roles is leading assessment and preparing data analysis of our school so I can explain this to all governors and answer their questions. I very much enjoy working with my governor colleagues who are hardworking and supportive of the School, but who also challenge and question us so we can work together on school improvement and development. As a Staff Governor I create a valuable link between all staff and the Governing Body.

Becky Roberts

I am Reverend Becky, the vicar to the whole of the Harnham community. I have extensive teaching and life experience serving different communities in the UK and abroad. I am also a professionally trained therapist. I believe school is a place where children learn and develop as part of a community, caring for one another and growing in their values to enable both themselves and the community to flourish. The bedrock of my faith is to love others as Jesus taught us in the story of the Good Samaritan. As a Foundation Governor, I support and challenge the school through the Curriculum, Religious Education and acts of worship, as well as supporting families.

Jeanne Ross

I have been a member of the Harnham Junior School Governing Body for ten and a half years. Harnham Junior School has played an important part in my life as I taught in the School for many years before officially retiring in 2004, but I continued supply teaching until the first lockdown in 2020. I feel privileged to be the governor responsible for Safeguarding in the School. I also monitor the academic progress and well-being of Pupil Premium children, and those children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Chris Thompson

I am an Associate Governor for the school’s ICT. I work closely with Mr Turner to ensure that the latest ICT standards are being met, so the children can benefit and learn as much as possible from the most current and relevant topics. I am also a parent of 2 and currently run a local IT support business that supports various businesses and schools in the Salisbury area.
