‘We always treat others with love and kindness following the teachings of the Parable of the Good Samaritan.’

Harnham C of E (VC) Junior School Values:

Our School Values are underpinned by the Christian Principles practically demonstrated through the parable of the Good Samaritan – that we should actively treat everyone with love and kindness. Our school values are remembered by the mnemonic FAITH:

Forgiveness through patience and peace

Active love through compassion and service

Inspiration through encouragement and friendship

Tenacity through perseverance  and courage

Harmony through respect, trust and joy

Our Collective Worship Themes

Our Collective Worship Themes for each term can be seen below. Please click on each one to access the relevant Value Newsletter.

Collective Worship

Each term we focus on one of the above values. Daily acts of worship, based on the Christian Values and learning in the Bible, are planned to include the four elements of: Welcome, Learning, Reflecting and Responding, giving the children an understanding of Christianity.

The children are given opportunities to reflect on the weekly themes in their Reflection Books and often write and say their own prayers - these reflections and prayers are shared on Reflection Displays in the classrooms.

Our Local Churches

Our School is linked with the two churches in the Harnham Parish - All Saints and St George’s.

Reverend Beck Roberts leads whole School acts of Worship at least twice a term and family grouping services (4 classes including one from each year group) are held at St George’s or All Saints church to celebrate important dates such as Easter.

Traditionally, every December the whole School community participates in a Carol Service held at St Thomas’ church in Salisbury.

As part of our RE Curriculum, and also when commemorating Remembrance Day, classes will visit the the churches to look at the buildings, symbols and artefacts and the churchyard.

Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral often offers workshops and activities to school and we participate in a variety of these, such as the Year 6 Leavers’ Service.
